Sad Pierrot series
This series originally started with this fixation I had on pierrot figurines and knights. Don’t ask me how the two relate but I figured I would play around with the idea of this character that dawns the mask of a pierrot that has been shattered and put back together (influence from the Japanese “kintsugi” which is this ceramic practice of putting something back together with the use of lacquer and powdered gold.).
Then the next set of illustrations slowly became different representations of emotions I’ve felt throughout the week. Every time I had an idea, I drew a little sketch then it became a full on illustration.
The borders are my favorite part of this illustration along with the different textures.
This one is probably my favorite. It is the most versatile with the imagery/subject matter/style. I enjoyed creating the composition and push the flowers outside of the border that frames everything else.
